Why do I love Mayville State? Mayville State isn't just a place; it's home. Growing up in Mayville, the university was a constant presence in my life, from attending theater productions in grade school to high school athletic events that were held on campus, and even swimming lessons. It was woven into the fabric of my childhood. My mom attended MSU as an older than average students when I was in grade school and I spent many hours in the computer lab at that time! It was a natural choice to pursue all three of my degrees here: my AA in Business Management, my Bachelor's in Business Administration, and my Master's in Education. For 17 years, I had the privilege of working in the financial aid office. It wasn't just a job; it became my career, my life. The relationships I forged and the friendships I made created a sense of camaraderie among staff and faculty that is truly unmatched. It truly is a Comet family! Mayville State is a family where everyone supports and encourages one another, striving for the best. You really feel like you belong. There are just so many wonderful people at Mayville State; so many of them mean so much to me and have impacted my life in such positive ways. Even though I had to retire early due to illness, Mayville State remains a part of me. The friendships and memories I made there endure, and I'm grateful for the continued connection through alumni and employee events. Mayville State has always been a part of me, and I'll always be a Comet! #LoveMayville #MSUThankful #GDTBAC - Susan Cordahl VanLear
