Classroom Technologies and Networked Printers
Each classroom or lab contains instructional technologies, such as computers, projectors and Promethean boards. Several network-shared printers are available for student use. Instructions have been provided in most of the rooms and on most of the networked printers. Feel free to contact the Service Desk for help as needed.
Office 365
All employees and registered students have access to Office 365 and its components. Apps in Office 365 include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Skype for Business, Outlook and SharePoint. SharePoint services and provides a single point of access to e-mail, a personal calendar, custom technical support documents, MSU news and information, file storage space, software downloads, and some class information.

Interactive Video Network (IVN)
Some classes use Internet-based, two-way interactive video to provide real-time collaboration with other students and professionals at multiple locations. The North Dakota Interactive Video Network (IVN) is a high-quality system used primarily for the delivery of courses.
Pexip / Polycom Real Presence (RP) Desktop
Pexip, is a video conferencing service available for faculty, staff and students, that allows users to connect with IVN classrooms using only a web browser. With Pexip, users can also connect using a mobile device. Real Presence is a secondary option that allows you to connect to meetings and/or classes when IVN rooms are not available. Polycom RP requires an account and a software download.

Blackboard Learn - Learning Management System
Blackboard Learn (Bb) is MSU’s Learning Management System (LMS). Bb is a virtual learning environment and course management system used for online teaching, learning community building and knowledge sharing. Faculty, staff and students can access Blackboard on online.mayvillestate.edu using their ConnectND credentials.
Collaborate Classic (sometimes called Original), is a web conferencing tool offered by the NDUS. Bb Collaborate Ultra delivers an updated, easy-to-use and highly accessible, synchronous web conferencing interface enabling more collaboration choices to support your pedagogical goals.

Hoonuit (Formerly Atomic Learning) for Students
Hoonuit is an online training resource and professional development tool that is available 24/7 and open to ALL Mayville State students. Students can access Hoonuit through Blackboard and login simply by using their ConnectND credentials.
YuJa
YuJa is a technology that allows instructors to record a lecture, video, or other content and make it available for students. Instructors may also allow students to use YuJa to record presentations or fulfill requirements for an assignment.

ProctorU
ProctorU is an online proctoring service that allows students to take exams online while ensuring the integrity of the exam for the institution by authenticating their identities and monitoring the exam in real time.

Blackboard Ally
Blackboard Ally is a revolutionary product that integrates seamlessly into the Learning Management System and focuses on making digital course content more accessible.

Zoom
Zoom is the leader in modern enterprise video communications, with an easy, reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, collaboration, chat, and webinars across mobile devices, desktops, telephones, and room systems. If you are interested in trying Zoom, contact Chris.
Qualtrics
Qualtrics is an easy-to-use, full-featured, web-based tool for creating and deploying surveys online. Employees and students of the North Dakota University System can access Qualtrics through their Campus Connection credentials.
VoiceThread
VoiceThread is a web-based program that can be used with both synchronous and asynchronous classes. VoiceThread supports the following uses:
- Narrate a presentation with audio and/or video
- Transform discussion boards from text only to audio/video.
- Promote individual commenting on the topic via voice or text
- Students can interact with the material and with each other via audio, video and/or text

Read & Write (formerly Read & Write Gold)
MSU students, faculty and staff have free access to Read & Write, an award-winning literacy software tool that can help students improve reading, writing, research and study skills. The software is designed to help individuals of all ages, abilities and learning styles.
Smarthinking is an on-demand online tutoring program. Students have 5 hours of free access to live tutors from within each course shell via the Smarthinking icon.
Faculty members may also choose to adopt course-specific technologies to enhance instruction. |
