Why did you choose to attend Mayville State University?
I chose to attend Mayville State based on the school size. When I toured, I felt the closeness of the campus and I just knew this is where I wanted to be. It was an added bonus that it was such a small school because I was raised in a small area, so when I say it feels like home, it really does.

What do you like best about the major you’re pursuing?
I have always enjoyed psychology. I knew from the first time I took a class that I would pursue it. It is my passion. I enjoy studying the brain and figuring out why people do what they do.

What do you like best about Mayville State in general?
My favorite part of Mayville is probably the student body. We have such an unheard of bond as a whole. It is crazy to see how much the students come together at any sporting event or when someone is in need. It is just an amazing thing to be a part of.

Do you participate in any activities related to your major/minor? Internships? Work Study? Other?
I actually have had the opportunity to start an Alzheimer’s Awareness team on campus, thanks to help from the Student Life office. This fits into my passion for Alzheimer’s and my favorite branch of psychology, which happens to be gerontology.

Have you had any unique opportunities, in or out of the classroom, while you’ve been enrolled at Mayville State?
One thing I had the privilege to be a part of was Impact Training, or self-defense training, when it came to campus. It was an eye-opening experience that I will never forget. The other opportunity was starting an Alzheimer’s Awareness team. That is truly my passion … to raise awareness … and I was honored to do it here.

What MSU clubs, organizations, or athletic activities do you participate in?
I am a part of Student Activities Council (SAC) and the Cometeers.

How have these activities enhanced your college experience?
SAC has given me the opportunity to have a voice in what entertainment to bring to Mayville State. We plan activities to keep the students entertained and happy. The Cometeers have allowed me to volunteer my time to others in need and they keep track of my hours which is nice. Both have made my college experience even better.

What has been your greatest moment as a Mayville State student?
My greatest moment has been meeting all the people I have met. They will be with me for life. I am blessed to have made such strong bonds with people and shared many memories with them.

What does personal service mean to you?
To me, the teacher to student interaction here is amazing, and I am glad to not just be a number to my professors, but a growing, learning student. I have respect for all of my professors and feel that I could go to them with any concern or question I have. I think personal service is what makes MSU unique. it’s just an added bonus to this amazing campus.

What are your plans after graduating from Mayville State?
After graduating Mayville I plan on furthering my education and getting my master’s degree in gerontology.
