Candidates for Queen

   
Miriam Carignan is from Walhalla, ND and is majoring in Business Administration. Miriam is a participant in women’s golf and is active on campus as a peer leader and DECA member. She is the Vice President of Fundraising for Mayville State’s DECA and the statewide President of North Dakota DECA. Miriam has enjoyed working in banking and finance since high school and after graduation hopes to become a loan officer at a financial institution. 2023 miriam Q.jpeg
     
2023 Kaitlin Q.jpg   Kaitlin Ensign is from Buxton, ND and is double majoring in Composite Science Education and Chemistry with a minor in coaching. She is a co-President of the Science Club and is also a member of SAA and SEA. During the school year she works on campus in Dr. Gonnella’s research lab and helps give tours to incoming students. She is also in her second year of coaching HCV junior high volleyball.  She spends her summers working as a counselor at Inspiration Bible Camp in Vining, MN. This fall she will have the opportunity to travel to St. Louis, Missouri to present on behalf of the research lab. After graduation Kaitlin plans to work in a rural North Dakota or Minnesota school as a high school science teacher.
     
MacKenzie Hughes is from Thompson, ND, and is majoring in Business Administration with specializations in Banking & Finance and Management. She plays for the Women's Basketball and Softball teams, is a Peer Leader, and is a member of DECA. Kenzie intends to go to graduate school and she sees herself working in investments. kenzieQ-2023.jpg
     
2023 thyra Q.jpg    Thyra Peterick is a senior from Hatton, North Dakota, and is majoring in Allied Health with a minor in Fitness and Wellness. She is involved in science club, diversity club, choir, and band. She also works as a student researcher in Dr. Gonella's lab and as a lifeguard at the college pool. She's on the Mayville State Women's Volleyball team and is excited to finally play at home. After graduation she plans on furthering her education to become a physical therapist. Her favorite thing about homecoming is getting Soholt bakery donuts with family and watching Comet Football!

Marcus Hughes is from Thompson, North Dakota, and is majoring in Business Administration. He is a member of the Mayville State Baseball Team as well as a member of Mayville State Collegiate DECA. Marcus hopes to stay in North Dakota after graduating in the spring. This is his fifth-year at Mayville State.  Marcus K 2023 (1).png 
       
 2023-roy-K.jpeg   Roy Morsette is Arikara (enrolled) from Twin Buttes, North Dakota on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. He is a descendant of Chief Red Fish (Oglala). Roy is majoring in Business Management. He loves taking part in the MaSU theatre production. He’s a Grass Dancer and performs for the MHA Nation Tourism at ND State Fair each year, teaching people about his culture.

After graduation, his goal is to work for the MHA Nation’s Business Department and will share his culture to others.

Gunnar Petersen was born and raised in Mayville, ND. Majoring in Ag-Business, Gunnar is a Peer Leader and a member of Collegiate DECA. 

Gunnar has worked at Thykeson Farms since the 4th grade, and after college plans to engage in a career in the Agriculture sector.

 Jacob K 2023.jpg   Jacob Strand is a senior from Glyndon, MN. His major is coaching and minor is sport management. Jacob is a part of the men's basketball team and is a member of Student Athletes Advisory Council. After graduation he plans to be a graduate assistant for a college basketball program with hopes of being a head basketball coach at the college level someday.
