It’s nearly time for the Comet Athletic Club 3-on-3!
2024 is a record setting year for our event. There are 131 teams registered who will play 203 games!
Game Sites
With the record number of teams, we added an off-site location. Games will be played at Mayville State's Lewy Lee Fieldhouse and Wellness Center, as well as at Peter Boe, Jr. (PBJ) Elementary School (20 2nd Street NW, Mayville). The school is approximately 5 blocks west of campus. (See maps.)
Teams in brackets playing games at PBJ should register at that site to receive T-shirts. Medals will also be awarded at this site. Teams will not have to travel back and forth between sites once games start in a bracket.
Game schedules were created to keep bracket games together, with limited travel between courts for any team. With this in mind, there are some teams who may play 2 or even 3 games back-to-back. There is not an easy way around this without having teams spend more down time in the gym. (See game schedules.)

The large number of teams prompted the need for a few adjustments to the rules. Adjustment help to accommodate completion of games in a reasonable time frame. (See update.)
The updates are highlighted in yellow on the sheet and are noted here:
- There is no designated 3-point line. Not all courts have this marked.
- Games will consist of 2 eight-minute halves, a 2-minute halftime, and 2 minutes between games.
- In the event there is a tie at the end of a game, coaches and officials will have a coin flip to determine the winner.
Notes for spectators
- Games are played on Mayville State’s campus, in the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse and Wellness Center, and at Peter Boe Jr. Elementary School.
- Parking is available on the east side of campus and the south side of the elementary school.
- Doors to both sites will open at 7:30 a.m.
- Fieldhouse & Wellness Center doors - enter on the east side of the buildings
- PBJ entrance is on the south side of the building, between the main school and the tan addition.
- Admission fees: $5 for adults; $3 for school-agers. Admission will be charged once and spectators can travel between sites as they desire.
- Please do not bring bills larger than $20. Change is limited.
- Coaches, players, and preschoolers are admitted for free.
- Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs for seating. (The Wellness Center does not have bleachers.)
- Concessions will be available throughout day on the Mayville State campus. There may be limited concessions at the elementary school location.
- The brackets will be posted and updated throughout the day at each site.
Coaches
Check in at the site registration table 30 minutes before the team’s first game. (Only coaches check in.)
- If there has been a change to players, please print another registration form. Add the new player and obtain parent signatures. You can leave this at the registration table.
- Bring your own warm-up basketballs for your team.
- There is no trainer or medical staff on site.
- Game balls are provided (youth, women’s, or men’s). Coaches will determine which size to use for their game.

The annual Comet Athletic Club 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament for 2nd through 8th grade students is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024.
- Cost is $100 for each team consisting of a maximum of five players.
- Free T-shirts are given to all participants.
- Medals will be awarded to the top three places in each division.
- Each team must have an adult coach.
- Brackets are based on players school grades.
- If brackets need to be combined, coaches will be contacted.
The tournament will be held at Lewy Lee Fieldhouse, located on the campus of Mayville State University.
Inclement Weather
If the tournament is cancelled due to inclement weather, half of the registration fee will be returned. If the tournament is held and a team chooses not to travel, there is no refund.
