Federal financial aid is available for summer semester if you are enrolled at least half-time and have remaining aid that was NOT used during the current fall and spring semesters. There may be some instances where students eligible for the Federal Pell Grant may receive funding as a less than half-time student in the summer. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you would like to discuss your specific situation. The summer semester is the final term in the current academic year. Therefore, if you have completed the FAFSA for fall and spring, it also includes the summer.
If you are a new student joining us this summer, you will want to complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year (example complete the 23-24 FAFSA for summer of 2024). The 23-24 FAFSA will NOT be available after June 30, 2024.
You will also want to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA if you plan to attend classes in the fall. When completing your FAFSA, the MSU School Code is 002993.
Students must be in compliance with MSU's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy at the end of Spring semester to receive financial aid for Summer session.
Please note: Summer session may begin before Spring Satisfactory progress evaluations are complete.
