As part of the Celebration of Female Athletes, all former and current Mayville State female student-athletes were recognized at halftime of the men's basketball game at Lewy Lee Fieldhouse Saturday evening, January 29, 2022.

A meaningful and memorable celebration was held the weekend of Jan. 28 and 29 at Mayville State University.

Donna Mark Speech

A highlight of the celebration was a speech delivered by Donna Ludwig Mark at the Athletic Hall of Fame Brunch held on the morning of Jan. 29. In recognition of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, Donna spoke of her experiences and work related to women in athletics. Donna Mark was trailblazer who paved the way for opportunities for girls and women in athletics.

Donna Ludwig Mark is a 1970 Mayville State graduate and Portland, N.D. native. She taught high school physical education for more than 30 years. She spent an equal amount of time coaching girls’ track and field and basketball. Donna was inducted into the Minnesota High School Coaches Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995, the Mayville State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989, the St. Cloud Apollo Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Mayville State University Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame in October of 2010. Donna joined the faculty at Mayville State University in 2004 and served as chair of the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. She retired in 2016.

Come "home" to Mayville State on the weekend of January 28 and 29, 2022 to celebrate Mayville State's former and current female athletes!

There is much to celebrate! The Mayville State family includes amazing former and current female athletes. In addition, 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX, which has had a positive impact on women's athletics nationwide.

A special invitation is extended to our guests of honor, all former Mayville State female athletes. No matter your sport, you're sure to have a great time catching up with your friends. A fun-filled schedule of activities is planned! Don't miss out!

The Saturday schedule includes an Athletic Hall of Fame brunch where Laura Big Crow, Heidi Brunko, and Jennifer Ostapowich will be inducted, and a men's and women's basketball double header versus Valley City State. All former Mayville State female athletes will be recognized at half time of the men's game. Following the men's game, all alumni and friends are invited to socialize at the Larson Alumni and Leadership Center.

If you can be in town on Friday, the 28th, join in the fun of double-header women's and men's basketball games versus Dickinson State at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The coaches of volleyball, softball, and women's basketball will host a social at the Top Hat in downtown Mayville following the games.
