With North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum’s recent announcement of his plan to sign an amended executive order that will drop the COVID-19 risk level in the state from high to moderate and following the lead of the North Dakota High School Activities Association guidelines, Mayville State is raising spectator capacity for indoor athletic events. The university will now be allowing up to 550 people to attend games at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. Fans will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. The requirement to clear the gymnasium immediately following the women’s basketball game on nights of double-headers will now be waived. Once admitted, fans may remain for all games.

The mask requirement will continue and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Family units will be allowed to sit together, but there will need to be six feet placed between groups. Concessions will be available.

The new guidelines will go into effect with the next home basketball contests. Dakota State University will be in town Friday, Jan. 15. The women’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the men will tip off at 7:30 p.m. The Comets will host Bellevue University Saturday, Jan. 16. The women’s game begins at 3 p.m. Start time for the men is 5 p.m.

Mayville State will provide free live video broadcasts of all home games for those who are not comfortable attending events in person at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
