meet-kelli.jpgDr. Kelli Odden, Associate Professor of Education at Mayville State University, has been elected to a second term as a representative of Region 8 for the National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators (NAECTE). NAECTE is an organization that focuses on professionals in the field of early childhood, those who prepare teachers and researchers, and collaborates with national and international early childhood programs.

“We are thrilled to have Kelly continue to serve as the Region 8 representative for NAECTE,” said Dr. Angela C. Baum, president of NAECTE. “Her passion for early childhood teacher education is evident and her commitment to our organization is truly appreciated. We greatly value her leadership and expertise.”

Odden will continue to represent the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. Through her regional and national work, she has been able to take part in work with the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Power to the Profession. She has a voice at a national table, working on policy for early childhood programming that impacts state early childhood programs and higher education early childhood programs.

“This opportunity has allowed me to promote Mayville State’s programs, collaborate with other early childhood programs across the nation, and make connections with other universities and potential students,” said Odden. “I love having a voice at the table and having the opportunity to promote Mayville State University and the amazing advantages that our early childhood programs provide, and collaborate with other early childhood colleagues across the nation and internationally as well.”

Odden credits retired Mayville State University teacher education faculty member Dr. Carol Enger, who held the Region 8 representative position previously, for the opportunity to be involved with NAECTE. “I cannot thank Dr. Carol Enger enough for opening the door for me.”
