Mayville State University homecoming royalty for 2020 have been named. Coronation for the homecoming queen and king will be held Monday evening, Oct. 12 immediately following the traditional Lip Sync Battle at Jerome Berg Field, at approximately 9:30 p.m. The homecoming royalty will reign over the university’s homecoming festivities Oct. 12 through 18.

Queen candidates are Elisabeth Dalke, Wishek, N.D.; Amber Gerszewski, Minto, N.D.; Mason Hart, Moorhead, Minn.; Victoria Johnson, Roseau, Minn.; Emily Kennelly, St. Thomas, N.D.; Abby Kohls, Mayville, N.D.; Sadie Mathews, Horace, N.D.; and Laura Spurgeon, Buxton, N.D. Candidates for king are Trent Carlson, Park River, N.D.; Donnie Dulski, Moorhead, Minn.; Jack Gerber, East Grand Forks, Minn.; Mason Rice, Stanley, N.D.; Timothy Rooks, Pahokee, Fla.; and Ty Steele, Gary, Ind.

Elisabeth Dalke is a senior majoring in elementary education with a specialization in special education. She is currently president of the MSU College Democrats.

Amber Gerszewski is a senior who plans to graduate this May with a degree in elementary education. She is a member of the Student Education Association.

Mason Hart is a senior who is majoring in allied health. She is a four-year member of the varsity volleyball team, public relations chair for the Student Athlete Advisory Council, and a Student Ambassador.

Victoria Johnson is pursing a major in composite chemistry education. She is a member of the varsity volleyball team, a resident assistant, and a Peer Leader. Victoria is also involved in the Science Club.

Emily Kennelly is a junior and majoring in elementary education with a specialization in reading. On campus, she serves as a resident assistant, a Peer Leader, and an officer for Student Education Association.

Abby Kohls is a senior who is majoring in business administration with specializations in marketing and management. Abby is the state president of the North Dakota Collegiate DECA and president of the Mayville State Collegiate DECA. She is currently completing a social media internship with Mayville State University and has been involved with both the Student Ambassadors and the Study Abroad program.

Sadie Mathews is a junior majoring in elementary education. Sadie is a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Council. She is a Peer Leader and a member of the varsity softball team. She is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Laura Spurgeon is a senior who is majoring in psychology with a minor in sociology. She is also earning a specialization in criminal justice. She plays third base for the Comets softball team and is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council.

Trent Carlson is a junior pursing a major in mathematics education and a minor in coaching. He is involved with the Student Athlete Advisory Council, is a Peer Leader, and he represents Mayville State on the North Star Conference Board of Student Athletes and is also on the North Star Social Justice Council.

Donnie Dulski is a senior majoring in sports management. He is student manager for the Comets men’s basketball team and a representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Council.

Jack Gerber is a junior who is pursuing a major in business agriculture. He is involved on campus as a Peer Leader and a member of Collegiate DECA.

Mason Rice is a senior who is majoring in physical education with a minor in coaching. Mason is a member of the varsity baseball team.

Timothy Rooks is earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a minor in sociology. He plays varsity football, participates in the Mayville State Intercultural Club, and is a Peer Leader.

Ty Steele has academic interests in culinary arts and marketing. He is a member of the Comets varsity football and esports teams and enjoys videography in his free time.
