To provide professional development training in scientifically-based, evidence-based, and research-based reading practices for North Dakota K-12 teachers, Mayville State is offering a one-credit course titled “Scientifically-Based Reading Practices.” The course meets the requirements of North Dakota HB1388. Spring registration dates are Nov. 8, 2022 through Jan. 19, 2023. Course dates are Jan. 10, 2023 through April 28, 2023. The course will be offered asynchronously online.
This course is designed to provide the professional educator with training in scientifically-based, evidence-based, and research-based teaching practices to focus on science-based theory, direct instruction (systematic and explicit), phonological awareness to include phonemic awareness and the alphabetic principle, phonics, vocabulary, fluence, and comprehension.
