Mayville State University Homecoming will meet Farmers Bowl for a combined celebration planned for Sept. 18-19. The Mayville State Alumni Association has a full schedule of activities planned for all alumni, friends, and community members.

The weekend will begin with recognition of the 2026 Performing Arts Hall of Fame Inductees at a program planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 in the Classroom Building Auditorium. This year’s inductees are Teresa (Berry) Agnes, Dr. Jane Braaten, and Charity Stegman. Musical selections will be provided by Triplicity.

With the renovation of Mayville State’s historic landmark, Old Main, nearing completion, the public is invited to see the progress during tours that will take place Friday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 19 at 12:30 p.m. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants and meet at the construction office south of the building for a safety briefing prior to the start of the tours. The 2026 Athletic and Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame inductees and Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Award recipients will be recognized at the Homecoming Awards Dinner planned for 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are Nancy (Johnson) Berg, Chuck Bush, Wade Grinde, and Kermit Johnson. Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame inductees are Andy Braaten, Jeryl “Murph” Thompson, Brad Walsh, and Jennifer (Hegna) Walsh. Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are Patti (Eastgate) Aanenson, Rammie (Braaten) Olson, and Kasie (Braaten) Olson, and Distinguished Service Award recipients are Tom Capouch and Lowell Nelson.

A pre-dinner social will be held at the Edson and Margaret Larson Alumni and Leadership Center from 4 to 5:30 p.m. A social for alumni and friends will also follow the Homecoming Awards Dinner from 8:30 to 11 p.m. at the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room. A cash bar will be available.

An open house at the Edson and Margaret Larson Alumni and Leadership Center and the surrounding gardens will kick off the day’s activities on Saturday, Sept. 19. The open house is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.

Comets Volleyball alumni are encouraged to participate in the alumni game from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.

The traditional Ceremony of Remembrance at the Military Honor Garden on the grounds of the Larson Center will follow at 9:30 a.m.

A parade will start at the corner of Main Street and Center Avenue, beginning at 11 a.m. It will proceed to the east down Main Street and end at Jerome Berg Field on the Mayville State campus. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., Athletic Hall of Fame teams marking anniversaries in five-year increments since they played at Mayville State are invited to join in tailgating at “The Grove” northwest of Jerome Berg Field. Teams of honor this year are the 1955-56 baseball team, the 1976 softball team, the 1960-61 basketball team, the 1995-96 men’s basketball team, the 2005-06 men’s basketball team, and the 2001 baseball team. Tailgating festivities will be hosted by the Comet Gridiron Club.

The Class of 1976 and friends will be gathering for a golden reunion during Homecoming 2026 festivities. Karen (Rorvig) Ressler, Sue (McMullen) Strand, and Linda Loing are arranging for events that will include socializing following the Homecoming Awards Dinner on Sept. 18. Those who played baseball at Mayville State in the 1960s and 1970s are invited to join their friends and teammates at the Homecoming Awards Dinner on the evening of Sept. 18, ride in the Homecoming/Farmers Bowl parade on Saturday, Sept. 19, then enjoy tailgating before the football game. Mayville State’s athletic teams will be making the preparations and serving the legendary Farmers Bowl Corn on the Cob and Hot Dog Feed outside of Jerome Berg Field starting at noon. Pre-game festivities will also include inflatable games for all ages.

Comets softball alumni are invited to join in tailgating starting at noon at “The Grove.”

The Comets will host Simpson University in the Farmers Bowl/Homecoming game. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at Jerome Berg Field.

The grand finale for the weekend will be the Farmers Bowl Auction. Socializing and silent auction bidding will begin at 5 p.m. at the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room. The live auction will begin at 7 p.m.
