Dr. Lon Jorgensen has been hired as the Mayville State University Foundation executive director. In this role, Jorgensen’s primary responsibilities will include planning, coordinating, and executing comprehensive fundraising efforts for Mayville State. He will oversee major and planned gifts and assist with Foundation grant proposals. He will begin his employment with Mayville State University on June 1.

“We are delighted to have Lon come home to his alma mater and join the Mayville State University team,” said Mayville State University President Dr. Brian Van Horn. “His passion for the university and desire to tell his Mayville State story will be invaluable as we work to bring the Mayville State University Foundation to new levels. Working closely with university and MSU Foundation staff, Jorgensen will be integral to our future success.”

Lon Jorgensen earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in elementary education and health, physical education, and recreation from Mayville State University in 1993. In 1994, he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen S.D., and he earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. in 2006.

Jorgensen will come to Mayville State University from Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Schools in Warren, Minn., where he has served as superintendent since 2013. He was chairman of the AWSA, Wisconsin Associate Principals Planning Committee from 2001 to 2006. He was elected to the position of National Association of Secondary Schools Principals state coordinator for the state of Minnesota in 2012-2013. Jorgensen is a Master Mason and Kem Shriner.

Lon and his wife, Michele, are the parents of a daughter, Grace, and a son, Gunnar.
