Golfers, supporters, and friends of Mayville State University gathered at the Mayville Golf Course on July 10 for the annual Harvey McMullen Memorial Golf Tournament, continuing a longstanding tradition of supporting Comet student athletes.
The event welcomed teams from across the region for a day of friendly competition, camaraderie, and philanthropy. Proceeds from the four-person scramble hosted by the Comet Athletic Club will benefit Mayville State University’s general athletic scholarship fund, helping provide opportunities for current and future Comet student athletes.
Named in honor of Dr. Harvey McMullen, the tournament celebrates the legacy of one of Mayville State’s most dedicated ambassadors. Along with Mayville State icon Jerome Berg, McMullen helped establish the event in the early 1990s with the goal of raising scholarship funds while bringing together members of the extended Mayville State family. More than 30 years later, the tournament continues to fulfill that mission.
Mayville State University extends sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in and supported the 2026 Harvey McMullen Memorial Golf Tournament. Their continued generosity helps ensure that Comet student athletes have the resources they need to excel in the classroom, in competition, and beyond.
The Harvey McMullen Memorial Golf Tournament remains a meaningful tribute to Dr. McMullen’s enduring impact on Mayville State University and a testament to the strong support of alumni and friends for Comet Athletics. Many thanks to the Comet Athletic Club board, whose members work tirelessly in support of Mayville State student athletes, and to Mark Kloster and Brian Halvorson, who headed up this year’s event.
