Plans for the Mayville State University Farmers Bowl 2022 festivities are well underway. Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17, the day-long festival celebrates the proud agricultural heritage of the area. The MSU Foundation coordinates the event annually. Many community volunteers and MSU supporters work together to make sure this event is successful year after year.

Farmers Bowl 2022 will begin with the Farmers Bowl parade featuring farm equipment, bands, antique vehicles, and floats. It will begin in front of the Goose River Bank in downtown Mayville at 11:30 a.m., make its way through town, and end at Jerome Berg Field on the Mayville State campus. (Please note the time of the parade. It’s a bit later than in the past due to a late football game start time.) Parade entrants may line up north of the Goose River Bank in downtown Mayville beginning at 10 a.m.

The traditional corn on the cob and hot dog feed will immediately follow the parade on the grounds near Mayville State’s Jerome Berg Field. Mayville State’s student athletes will be preparing and serving the meal. There is no charge for the meal, but freewill donations will be taken to help defray costs. To add to the festivities, there will be live music by Kenny and the Classics and bounce houses and face painting for kids. All are welcome.

The Mayville State University Bookstore, located in the MSU Campus Center, will be open from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 17.

The MSU Comets will host Presentation College in the Farmers Bowl football game. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at Jerome Berg Field. The Comets will be sporting their commemorative Farmers Bowl helmets with the wheat motif.

The much-loved Farmers Bowl auction event is back after a few years’ hiatus. In the first Farmers Bowl Auction, held in 1997, more than $14,000 was raised. The total amount raised has grown steadily over the years. The proceeds of the auction are administered by the MSU Foundation for the benefit of Mayville State University and its students.

The auction will be held in the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room. A silent auction will begin at 5 p.m., and an hors d‘oeuvres buffet and cash bar will be available throughout the evening. The excitement of the live auction will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for the auction sell for $35.00 each and are available at the MSU Foundation office and online at www.mayvillestate.edu/farmersbowl.

A cash drawing fundraiser will also add to the proceeds of the auction. Tickets are available at the MSU Foundation office or by calling 701-788-4864.
