All the stars aligned for a memorable combined Homecoming/Farmers Bowl celebration Sept. 27 and 28, 2024. Sunshine and warm temperatures provided a wonderful setting in which to celebrate.

The weekend was kicked off with a celebration of the renovation of Mayville State's flagship building, historic Old Main. The interior will be completely renovated for learning in the 21st century, while the stately exterior of the building will maintain its historic character. Completion of the project is slated for the summer of 2026.

Immediately following the Old Main event, a picnic lunch was served in the beautiful new Legacy Plaza, located in the corridor that runs east and west between the Classroom Building and the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. The project, which was the vision of alumnus Doug Anderson and spearheaded by the Mayville State Alumni Association Board, incorporates patios, seating areas, and more with a remembrance of the past, as well as a commitment to the present and future.

Performing Arts Hall of Fame inductees were recognized at a program held the afternoon of Sept. 27. The program included musical selections from the MSU band and choir, under the direction of Dr. Byron Ward, as well as Triplicity (Lori Nelson, Teresa Agnes, and Helen Hoyt).

This year's Alumni Association honorees and Athletic and Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame inductees were recognized at a dinner held the evening of Sept. 27.

Activities on Saturday, Sept. 28 included the Ceremony of Remembrance at the Military Honor Garden on the grounds of the Edson and Margaret Larson Alumni and Leadership Center and a parade, followed by the famous corn on the cob and hot dog feed, tailgating, and fun for kids of all ages.

With a huge number of fans cheering them on, the Comets defeated Valley City State, 16-10, in a very exciting football game! This was the Comets' first win over the Vikings since 2013, and the victory celebration on the field was electrifying. See more.

The weekend culminated in the Farmers Bowl Auction, where Mayville State supporters gathered to raise funds to benefit the students of Mayville State through the work of Comet Athletics, the MSU Foundation, and the MSU Alumni Association.

Throughout the day on Saturday, those who played on legendary Mayville State football coach Jerome Berg's teams gathered for a time of renewing acquaintances and reminiscing.

Homecoming/Farmers Bowl 2024 was an epic Comets Family Reunion! Many thanks to the Alumni Association Board for their work that made it all possible and to all who took part in the celebration, enjoying special times while making treasured memories!
