On Sept. 9, Tony Musumba, Associate Professor of Physics at Bismarck State College and Dr. Aaron Kingsbury, Assistant Professor of Geography and Political Science at Mayville State, will be working with Mayville State students and local K-12 teachers on using near-space balloons to teach STEM. There will also be a second project with Dr. Kingsbury, Erin Kunz, and Dina Zavala-Petherbridge on using the images captured from the launch to inspire writing across disciplines.

On Sept. 10, the near-space balloon with a go-pro camera will be launched. This will happen early in the morning, weather permitting. The balloon will reach near-space and then float back to earth. Students will use technology and tracking devices to trace and collect the payload.
