As we take time to pause and reflect on our many blessings this Thanksgiving, my thoughts go immediately to the many people who make Mayville State University the special place it is. At “The School of Personal Service,” people are the priority. Faculty and staff provide the highest level of service to students and that way of life is emulated by the students who are served.
Mayville State University alumni and friends and all community members are invited to share their thoughts and ideas related to the renovation of Mayville State Old Main. Project architects Foss Architecture + Interiors will facilitate an interactive meeting for this purpose Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the MSU Classroom Building Auditorium. The project to renovate Mayville State’s Old Main is underway! We are super-excited about the project, and equally grateful to the North Dakota Legislature for providing the $52 million in funding to make it possible. This is reason for all members of the Mayville State University Family to celebrate!
The Mayville State University Division of Education will host a Comet Today, Teacher Tomorrow kickoff event Monday, Nov. 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room 118 of the Education Building at Mayville State. The event will celebrate the students who have been accepted to pursue Bachelor of Science in Education degrees at Mayville State with the help of the Paraprofessional-to-Teacher Pathway initiative being offered by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI).
Those who attend the games when Mayville State Women’s and Men’s Basketball host University of Minnesota-Morris on November 21 will have the opportunity to support a family within the Comets Family. Several activities throughout the evening will help to raise funds to help six-year-old Miles Passa and his family as Miles undergoes treatment for brain cancer. Miles’ sister Emma is a member of the Mayville State women’s basketball team. His sister, Olivia, plays softball for the Comets.
The Mayville State University Mathematics Department and Math Club hosted a math meet for area high school students Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. Eight teams of four students each competed in individual and team events held throughout the day. They represented Central Valley, Hatton Eielson, Hillsboro, Larimore, Hope-Page, Thompson, Northwood, and May-Port CG Public Schools.
