For Developers of Online Courses
This document will help developers hit the ground running with developing online courses.
MSU considers all coursework developed for online courses that do not generate royalties as Mediated Courseware. Thus, the ownership of the developed material falls under the constraints outline in SBHE Policy 611.2 section 5.
The purpose of this required form is to strategically plan for the development, scheduling and marketing of online courses. Both developer and Chair must sign.
This required form is used to ensure that all parties are aware of the development or re-development of an online course and helps the developer and instructional designer determine the timeframe involved. Must be signed by Chair, Developer, Instructional Designer, Director of Extended Learning and VPAA.
This form is used by two reviewers – the content reviewer and the instructional design reviewer. Typically the content reviewer will be a faculty member of each division. The items in this form that are highlighted in yellow are those that will be considered by the content review. All standards on the form will be evaluated by the instructional designer.
The syllabus template is a guide for the development of all syllabi. Some items are required for all courses, some are only required for online courses. Please download and use as a template or a reference when building your syllabi.
This matrix gives specific examples of how to incorporate technology tools into your online teaching. It starts out naming a traditional instructional method, and then defines activities and the technologies that can be used to make them happen online. If you have something to add, please feel free to let us know!
Just like face-to-face classes, online instruction requires a variety of instructional and assessment strategies. So here are a few pointers to get the creative juices flowing and please feel free to ask the Instructional Technology department for support.
Use this table to create alignment between the learning goals and objectives, the learning strategies and activities and the assessments you will use for each.
