Members of Mayville State University’s Collegiate DECA excelled in competitions during the North Dakota Collegiate DECA Career Development Conference held in Fargo, N.D. on Feb. 21 and 22, 2024. The annual state conference provided an opportunity for the students to compete in business-related events against 147 of their peers representing nine other North Dakota colleges and universities.

The Mayville State chapter set some chapter records with nine first place, seven second - place, and three third place finishes. Twenty-three of 25 members qualified for the international competition that will be held in Austin, Texas in April.

“This was the largest group we’ve taken to the state conference,” said Mayville State advisor Rob Johnston. “Not only were many of them new to competition, but many of our seniors decided to challenge themselves by competing in different events from last year. Getting 23 of 25 students on stage was pretty remarkable. We commend the students for their efforts. This year’s team sure has been fun to advise.”
