If you have questions about any steps in the application process, please contact the Office of Admissions at: 701-788-4635. 

1. Apply for Admission

The first step in becoming a Mayville State Distance Degree student is applying for admission. You can complete your Application for Admission online. A one-time $35 application fee is required. Please refer to this application tutorial for step-by-step instructions on filling out the application.

2. Submit Official Transcripts

You must submit official transcripts from all schools you have attended based on freshman or transfer admission requirements. Please have your transcripts mailed to: Admissions Office, Mayville State University, 330 Third Street NE, Mayville, ND 58257.

3. Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for federal and state financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Mayville State University (Title IV school code 002993) as one of your schools of choice. The FAFSA is available beginning October 1 for the following school year.  Visit www.studentaid.gov to get started.

4. Contact your Mayville State Online Enrollment Specialist. 

Before registering for classes, please contact your Online Enrollment Specialist.  Students in all degree programs in the Devils Lake and Williston area should contact Cali DeMarce at 701-662-1587 or cali.demarce@mayvillestate.edu 

Mathematics and Mathematics Education, Biology, and English and English Education Online students should contact Zach Gadbery at 701-788-5255.

Online students in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and Business Administration should contact Connie Kaldor at 1-800-437-4104, Extension: 34721.

Online Physical Education students should contact Jayden Wilson at 701-788-4608.

5. Register for Classes

After consulting your advisor, use our How Do I guide to register for online and distance courses with Mayville State, to register for collaborative courses with other NDUS institutions, and to order textbooks. You will also find instructions in this handout for viewing your course schedule and student account in Campus Connection.

6. Watch for emails from the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Prior to the start of the semester, you will receive a number of important e-mails from the Center for Teaching and Learning concerning designating a proctor for exams, accessing your online classes in Blackboard, accessing an optional online student orientation courses in Blackboard, and other important information to get started with your classes.

Non-degree Seeking Students:

Use this checklist as your guide to becoming admitted and successfully enrolling in Mayville State University's online classes. If you have questions about any step in the process, please contact the Office of Admissions at 701-788-4763.

1. You can get started now by following our undergraduate application instructions. A one-time $35 application fee is required.  You do not need to submit academic transcripts for admission as a non-degree seeking student. However, for courses that have prerequisites you may need to submit an unofficial copy of your academic transcript to MSU Admissions before we can assist to enroll you in the course/s. If you are not sure whether your transcript is needed or not, contact the Office of Admissions.

2. Claim Your Account and Sign the Financial Obligation Agreement

The next steps in becoming a non-degree seeking student in online courses with Mayville State are to claim your NDUS student account and to sign the Financial Obligation Agreement (FOA) for the term. Information on how to claim your account and sign the FOA will be provided in your admissions notification email.

3.Register for Courses

Once you have claimed your account and signed the FOA, you will be able to register for the course(s) in which you'd like to enroll.  For courses that have prerequisites, you may need to submit an unofficial copy of your academic transcript to Emily Kaasa (emily.kaasa@mayvillestate.edu) and then we can assist to enroll you in the course/s. 

4. Order Textbooks

After registering for your courses, please go to www.mayvillestatebookstore.com to set up your ordering profile. You will be able to do this 72 hours after registration. Search for books and materials for your course, and place orders.

5. View Your Course Schedule/Financial Account

6. Watch for emails from the Center for Teaching and Learning.  

Prior to the start of the semester, you will receive a number of important e-mails from the Center for Teaching and Learning about accessing your online classes in Blackboard, accessing an online student orientation course (optional) in Blackboard, and other important information to get started with your classes.
