Jerome Berg was head coach of Mayville State Comet football teams from 1956 to 1966. During that tenure, Coach Berg’s teams won 62 games and lost only 20. This run included six conference titles. Coach Berg retired from coaching in 1966. He died in January of 2011, at the age of 84.

Coach Berg was a player’s coach who was highly respected by all who had the opportunity to be on one of his teams. Many team members have passed on. It was suggested that those who are still able should gather one more time to honor and celebrate the Comet coaching days of Jerome Berg.

With that in mind, the MSU Foundation and Alumni Association have declared the Homecoming/Farmers Bowl Weekend of September 27 and 28 as a time to bring all Berg-coached Comet team members together for a reunion.

Please mark your calendar for this memorable event. DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT WITH FORMER TEAMMATES AND FRIENDS AND SPEND A LITTLE TIME ON THE MAYVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS.

Several people have indicated that they plan to participate in the festivities of the First Annual - Last Reunion of Jerome Berg Teams. They are:

Doug Eiken, Dale Helm, Richard Roragen, Lester Johnson, Doug Lund, Bob Burner, Jim Dew, John Koppy, Pat Keenan, Jerry Dalzell, Grady Rostberg, Glenn Gwynn, John Fylling, Kenneth Wall, David Strand, Norm Swenson, Dale Svaren, Don McIntyre, Brian Larson, Martin Johnson, Roger Moe, Gelaine Orvik, Al Coen, Curt Almlie, Ray Thorkildson, Don Gwynn, Joe Dunn, Tom Soholt, Richard Fugleberg, Arne Osland, Dean Bowyer, Ty Wacker, Hank Biesiot, Bob Andre, Rich Saxlund, et al.

Cheerleaders and friends of the players are also invited to attend. Spread the word!

Festivities at Richard Fugleberg's hangar will include a slide show of the Berg years and a video showing the incredible 1965 Moorhead State/Mayville State football game.
