Mayville State Music Department to present spring concert on May 1
The Mayville State University Music Department will present their spring concert on Wednesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Mayville State Classroom Building Auditorium. The band, choir, and chamber music ensembles will perform popular songs and works from musicals, movies, television, and more. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.

Concepts for Old Main renovation presented
Mayville State was extremely fortunate to be granted $52 million in state funding for the renovation of Old Main during the legislative session in 2023. We reached a milestone in the Old Main renovation project last week when Adam Peterson and Steve Skoblik with Foss Architecture + Interiors were on campus to present schematics for the project to audiences of students, faculty, staff, and community members. Adam is the lead designer for the project.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has proclaimed the week of April 21-27, 2024 Finish the FAFSA Week in North Dakota. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the gateway to qualifying for grants, work-study funds, and federal student loans, as well as certain state-based aid to pay for college and career training programs.

Mayville State alumni will be inducted into MN Wrestling Hall of Fame
Mayville State alumni Ray Thorkildson, Waubun, Minn., and Gary Brantl, Thief River Falls, Minn., will be inducted into the 2024 Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame Association David Bartelma Wrestling Hall of Fame. Thorkildson is being honored as a coach, while Brantl will enter the hall of fame as a pioneer recipient.

Comet Athletic Club board members go above and beyond always
More than 600 basketball players, their coaches, and families will be in the Mayville-Portland community Saturday, April 13 for the annual Comet Athletic Club 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament! That’s 131 teams of second- through eighth-grade kids from North Dakota and Minnesota. Most of the teams are from within an hour or so of Mayville-Portland, with the longest distance of travel for a team being 150 miles.

Mayville State faculty member, students serving the community and supporting the public library
As a service to the community, Dr. Joseph Mehus, Associate Professor of Biology and INBRE Researcher at Mayville State University, and Kelli Tvedt, a deputy with the Traill County Sheriff’s Department, are working together to provide a fund-raising event that will benefit the Mayville Public Library. The Plant-a-Pot event will be held at the library on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 10 a.m. to noon.
