Mayville State provides technical support and assistance with instructional technology such as Zoom, PEXIP, and Yuja.  For student help and information for Blackboard, see the Bb Student Support Center page.

Zoom is a video conferencing product that is reliable and easy to use for audio and video conferencing, collaboration, chat, and webinars across mobile devices, desktops, telephones, and room systems.

Mayville State has its own Zoom account with a limited number of Pro licenses and an unlimited number of Basic licenses. Some of our faculty employ Zoom as an educational tool to help break down the barriers of technology and distance.

It is strongly recommended that you use a headset with Zoom to help reduce the potential for audio issues (but It is not a requirement unless otherwise stated in a syllabus). Also, please remember that Zoom users can only have one meeting going at a time. If you try to join or start another meeting, you will be kicked out of your current meeting.

Please contact Chris Gonnella with any questions about Zoom or the equipment you need to use it.

Zoom Quick Start Guide for Students and other resources are available on the MSU Zoom web page.

Pexip is a web conferencing tool that is used in conjunction with the Interactive Video Network (IVN). In order for Pexip to work, an IVN room and time must be reserved. However, it is not required that anyone is physically in the reserved space. You can run Pexip on your computer from anywhere you have access to the internet.

Getting Started in PEXIP Student User Guide

Students taking online, synchronous classes (using Zoom or PEXIP) need to ensure they are fully attentive to class activities while attending online class sessions.  Family members, children, pets, cell phones, and other distractions must be out of sight for class sessions.  Distractions for students and the instructor are not allowed.

YuJa is a technology that allows instructors to record a lecture, video, or other content and make it available for students.  Instructors may also allow students to use YuJa to record presentations or fulfill requirements for an assignment.

Some instructors may require students to use YuJa to proctor exams.
