Don ('65) and Mary (Salisbury) ('66) Cavalier
Mayville is definitely the “school of personal service!“ I encountered caring professors who were always willing to give a student extra help if needed. What a great staff and campus!
Lynn Flanagan (’63)
“Privilege” is the word that comes to mind when I think of Mayville State. I was privileged to be a student and later a faculty/staff member. I was privileged to work with some of the kindest, smartest, most imaginative people one could find. Our family was privileged to enjoy athletic, cultural and social events and to be an active part of the MSU college community as volunteers. It has also been our privilege to be able to “pay back” and “pay forward” in gratitude for those experiences. Go, Comets.
Myrna Lyng ('61)
As of May 15, 2020, Myrna and I, our three kids, their spouses, and our nine grandchildren will have a total of 20 college degrees. Seven of those degrees were started at MSTC, MSC or MSU. Thank you, MSU, for giving a farm boy from south of Mayville the opportunity to obtain a very satisfying personal and professional life.

Mayville State was the right college at the right time for me. I came from Finley, North Dakota looking for a personalized college where I wouldn't get lost. I was blessed to have parents there guiding me along with the Mayville State professors. Looking back I’m so proud to know my grandma, mother, oldest brother, and my sister, along with now my niece and nephews walking the halls of Mayville State University.
Roger Petersen ('95)
Certainly the four best years of my lifetime.
Larry Senger ('66)
MSU makes a big, positive impact on our community and education is so important - at MSU it is affordable.
Teachers drew out gifts in me I didn't know I had. Classmates journeying together made the trip for all better. Staff both knew us and cared. "Personal service" was not just a motto; it was/is a way of being.
Bill Rindy (’84)

Rocky Larson, MSU Head Football Coach
I am sooo thankful for Mayville State. I wanted to be a teacher since I was young...MSU is the place to go! Plus, Mayville was close to my hometown and a small school. I was given the opportunity to work in the Education Department and soon realized my joy was in business. So thankful for my business mentors - Linda Baier and Terry Kemmer — and my Education Dept supporters of Delores Pittenger, Mike Worner, Dennis Kost, and more. I am now a very proud Alerus employee of 27 years. I stay connected to Linda. I promote MSU when I can. I am blessed. I worked the phonation back in the day and know that every little bit counts.

Burton Fleming ('64)
There are stepping stones and places in life that provide individuals with the right guidance or "push," if you will. That is Mayville State to me. Without the years spent there, I shudder to think at where I'd be. A door of opportunity was opened for me by MSU. Becoming a Comet was simply the best choice I've made. now, as my son has selected Mayville, a fourth generation Comet joins the fold. I know he'll have as much respect for this institution as his great grandmother, great uncle, and father have had.
Lon Jorgensen, Class of 1993
