The evening will begin with a social featuring entertainment in the MSU Campus Center Foyer from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Doors to the main event will open at 7 p.m. A Sparkling Affair will feature fabulous jewelry prizes, a silent auction, games, and refreshments.

This is the fourth year for the A Sparkling Affair, and to get things started, a pre-event raffle was rolled out in December. The raffle lets everyone get involved, even if they aren’t able to attend the Feb. 25 event. Prizes in the Dazzling Prize Drawing are a two-tone 14 kt. gold diamond ring (valued at $3,285) donated by Riddle’s Jewelry of Grand Forks, N.D. A blue tone druzy stone pendant and ring set donated by Jennifer Kohls of Mayville and a champagne hue necklace and earrings set handcrafted and donated by Debbie Hagen of Mayville are the other prizes that will be given away in the raffle drawing. The drawing will be held at the A Sparkling Affair event, but the winner need not be present to win.

Riddle’s Jewelry, Grand Forks, N.D., has come on board for a fourth year as a major sponsor of A Sparkling Affair. In addition to the diamond ring which is the grand prize in the pre-event raffle, Riddle’s has donated diamond hoop earrings (valued at $1,000), a custom crafted ring (valued at $3,000), and a diamond pendant (valued at $1,284) that will be available as prizes for those who choose to play the Riddle’s Grand Prize Extravaganza at the Feb. 25 event.

Door prizes that will be given away throughout the evening will include many unique and beautiful jewelry items that have been created and donated by Debbie Hagen and Jennifer Kohls. The jewelry-crafting duo, together with Loree Stenehjem, founded A Sparkling Affair in 2013. Their pieces will be given away as door prizes and be a part of the silent auction. In addition, local jewelry crafters Helen Hoyt and Lisa Rakowski of Mayville and Shari Schultz of Portland have created some very lovely pieces that will be available for sale via silent auction and as prizes given away throughout the evening. Those winning door prizes must be present at the event when their name is drawn.

“We look forward to A Sparkling Affair with great anticipation,” said Dena Bergstrom, MSU Foundation Annual Giving Coordinator/Phonathon Associate and organizer of the A Sparkling Affair event. “We’ll be adding a few exciting new items to the already-popular list of event activities.”

New to A Sparkling Affair this year is the Luxurious Sparkling Lounge. Those attending the event on Feb. 25 are encouraged to arrive between 6:30 and 7 p.m. and purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win the opportunity to enjoy the main event together with five friends from comfortable lounge seating in a posh designated area of the Luckasen Room.

The Wine Cork Grab is also new this year. Those who choose to play the game will purchase the chance to grab a wine cork from a bucket. Several of the corks will be marked to indicate the purchaser has won a prize. Prizes for this game have been donated by Top Hat, Stub’s Bar, Happy Harry’s of Grand Forks, PLS, Tommy’s Sports Bar/Pizza Shop, Brudvik Law Office, and the MSU Alumni of Pembina County/Hoople.

Back by popular demand is the Treat Yourself to a Cupcake game. One hundred Gigi’s cupcakes, each packaged in a special box, will be available for sale at the event. Purchasers will be eager to open their boxes to learn if they have also won one of many wonderful prizes, valued at $35 or more. Prizes will include products from Thirty-One, Jamberry, Mary Kay, Essential Oils, Pampered Chef, Dove Chocolate Discoveries, Wild Tree, and Scentsy, and jewelry, salon products and packages, a photo package, and a tanning package.

Donors of these prizes are Jessie Evanson, Billie Jacobson, Allison Flexhaug of Wildside Salon, Mindy O’Connor, Christa Strand, Amanda Evans, Lisa Jacobsen, Tammy Schmitz, Sheila McClenahen, Dawn Johnson of Dawn’s Hair Salon, DeAnna Kyllo, Nancy Paulson of America’s Hot Spot, Annie Freeberg, Denise Adams of Spice of Life, Toni Jacobson of Jacobson Studio, and Jody Stevens.
