sean_thom.jpgMayville State University has hired Sean Thom as its new head football coach. Thom will be on campus to begin his duties shortly after Christmas.

Before joining the staff at Mayville State, Thom was the defensive coordinator at North Forsyth High School in Cummings, Ga. North Forsyth is a Class 7A high school in northern Georgia with an enrollment of 2,400 students. Previously, he was the linebackers coach at Faulkner University, an NAIA school in Montgomery, Ala., where he also played collegiate football. Sean was an NAIA Academic All-American and a First Team All Mid-South Conference player three times.

“Thom will bring passion and energy to our program,” said Mayville State University Athletic Director Mike Moore. “He is exceptionally organized and understands what needs to be done in all areas to get our program on track. Although Sean currently resides in Georgia, he has some familiarity with our area. He attended North Dakota State University for one year to play baseball. In addition, his parents and grandparents live in the Moorhead, Minn. area. I have no doubt that with his work ethic, he will establish himself immediately in our region. We look forward to having Sean and his family join our university and community.”

Moore went on to say, “The search committee did a great job processing the candidate pool and determining the finalists. I thank them for their work. We had three very qualified finalists who interviewed.”
