Mayville State night with the F-M RedHawks is June 29

We hope you’ll mark your calendar and plan to join your Mayville State friends at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo Wednesday, June 29, Mayville State night with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks! The RedHawks will take on the Explorers of Sioux City that evening. Everyone is invited to join us for what is sure to be a fun-filled experience for all.

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m., when the gates at Newman Outdoor Field open. The Mayville State group will be treated to an amazing ballpark experience on the all-new 3rd Base Party Deck! The party deck features bar stool seating, picnic tables, and additional bleacher seating. Your $27 adult ticket includes a game ticket, plus all-you-can-eat hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, potato chips, pop, water, and snacks. The buffet starts when the gates open and runs through the 5th inning. (Tickets for kids ages 12 and under are $15.)

Be among the first to arrive at the field and get a great RedHawks/Mayville State vintage lunchbox for free! We’re grateful to the MSU Alumni Association for providing this gift.

Game time is 7:02 p.m. You won’t want to miss the pre-game festivities. MSU Foundation Executive Director John Klocke will be singing the national anthem. A yet-to-be-named Mayville State personality will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. We hope you’ll be there to watch it all happen!

Mayville State has a rich tradition of success in the game of baseball. You may know that (as of this writing) our Comets are in Hutchinson, Kan., where they are competing in the NAIA national tournament, after becoming runner-up in the North Star Athletic Association conference tournament. We’re very proud of our Comets!

It is fitting that we would celebrate the game of baseball with our alumni and friends while watching a game at Newman Outdoor Field, a field named for former Mayville resident and Mayville State student, the late Harold Newman. To top it off, former Comets Dave Meyer and Brad Anderson went on to play with the RedHawks for a time.

Tickets for the game and pre-game picnic are limited and will go fast! To purchase yours, go to www.mayvillestate.edu/redhawks or call the MSU Foundation at 701-788-4864. Don’t delay. You won’t want to miss out on this great opportunity! Tickets must be purchased by June 12.

Speaking of baseball, events for alumni and friends … and fun … plans are underway for our third annual Minnesota Twins outing at Target Field on August 13. We’ve had a great time the last two years, and we’re going to do it again! The Twins will be playing the Kansas City Royals in a game that will begin at 6:10 p.m. A pre-game social will be held Hubert’s Sports Bar and Grill, located within walking distance of Target Field. Details are posted at www.mayvillestate.edu/twins. We’re looking forward to another “homerun” outing for alumni and friends.I n addition, a luncheon for alumni and friends is planned at Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant in Maple Grove on Sunday, Aug. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. You can learn more and make your reservation at www.mayvillestate.edu/twincities.
