Mayville State night with the F-M RedHawks is June 17

We hope you’ll mark your calendar and plan to join your Mayville State friends at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo Wednesday, June 17, Mayville State night with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks! The RedHawks will take on the Canaries of Sioux Falls that evening. Everyone is invited to join us for what is sure to be a fun-filled experience for all.

250x250.jpgThe festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m., when the gates at Newman Outdoor Field open and the pre-game picnic begins. The all-you-can-eat picnic will include hot dogs, bratwurst, BBQ pulled pork, and hamburgers, served with potato salad, baked beans, potato chips, and Pepsi products.

Be among the first to arrive at the field and get a great RedHawks/Mayville State stocking cap for free! We’re grateful to the MSU Alumni Association for providing this gift.

Game time is 7:02 p.m. You won’t want to miss the pre-game festivities. MSU Foundation Executive Director John Klocke will be singing the national anthem, and I’ll be throwing out the first pitch. I’ve been warming up my throwing arm in preparation for the big event, and I hope you’ll be there to see it happen!

Mayville State has a rich tradition of success in the game of baseball. You may know that our Comets recently returned from Bellevue, Neb., where they competed in the NAIA national tournament, after winning the North Star Athletic Association conference title. We’re very proud of our Comets who put forth a great effort for a wonderfully successful season.

It is fitting that we would celebrate the game of baseball with our alumni and friends while watching a game at Newman Outdoor Field, a field named for former Mayville resident and Mayville State student, the late Harold Newman. To top it off, former Comets Dave Meyer and Brad Anderson went on to play with the RedHawks for a time.

Tickets for the game and pre-game picnic are limited and will go fast! To purchase yours, go to www.mayvillestate.edu/redhawks or call the MSU Foundation at 701-788-4864. Don’t delay. You won’t want to miss out on this great opportunity! Tickets must be purchased by June 1.

Speaking of baseball, events for alumni and friends … and fun … plans are underway for our second annual Minnesota Twins outing at Target Field on August 1. We had a great time last summer, and we’re going to do it again! The Twins will be playing the Seattle Mariners in a game that will begin at 6:05 p.m. A pre-game social will be held at a place yet to be determined. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information. Details will be posted at www.mayvillestate.edu/twins as they become available. We’re looking forward to another “homerun” outing for alumni and friends.

For more information about these or any other events planned for Mayville State University alumni and friends, contact the office of alumni affairs at 701-788-4750 or alumni.mail@mayvillestate.edu.
