logo-web.jpgThe Mayville State University Alumni Association will host the third annual Alumni Day at Mayville State University, Mayville, N.D., Friday, June 21, 2013. Activities planned throughout the day include campus tours, an ice cream social, and an open house reception to honor the 2013 Alumni Association award winners and Mayville State’s 2013 retirees with 20+ years of service. Evening festivities include the annual Alumni Association Awards Dinner, a musical variety show, and a social for alumni and friends. The events are being held in conjunction with Mayville-Portland’s annual Summerfest. All activities are open to the public.

Alumni Day will begin with campus tours leaving from the front of Old Main at 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. During this time, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., an ice cream social will be held on the lawn at Agassiz Hall, overlooking the Edson and Margaret Larson Alumni and Leadership Center, Mayville State’s future alumni center.

From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., an open house reception honoring Mayville State’s 2013 retirees with 20 or more years of service, John Lankow, Dr. Paul Meartz, Dennis Schultz, and Bev Holt. (Unfortunately, Lankow and Meartz will be unable to attend the reception.) The Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Award-winners will also be guests of honor. The reception will be held in the lounge area on the upper level of Mayville State’s Campus Center. The reception is being hosted by the MSU Alumni Association board, and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Honorees at the Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Awards Dinner will be 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients and Mayville State graduates Merle Boucher, Rolette, N.D.; Dr. Debra Follman, Devils Lake, N.D.; Dr. G. Daryl Nord, Stillwater, Okla.; and Dr. Rodney Strand, Knoxville, Tenn. The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Curt Almlie of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

The Alumni Association Awards Dinner will be held in the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21. A variety show will follow the awards dinner. It will be held in the MSU Classroom Building Auditorium, beginning at 8:00 p.m. The show is open to the public free of charge.  

Mayville State’s third annual Alumni Day will wind up with a social for all Mayville State alumni and friends at the Top Hat in downtown Mayville. Everyone is welcome!
